I was fresh out of high school when I knew I wanted to pursue Journalism.
Spending my days working at a furniture store I questioned my future. After a year of sleeping in, working hard and hanging out with friends I decided it was time to head to post-secondary. I knew I was good at public speaking and interested in making a difference in the world but the question was how? Debating between journalism and business administrative I thought to myself:
Do I want to do what makes me happy? Or do I want work a typical 9-5?
Happiness. So I registered at Humber College for the Print and Broadcast program. I wondered if this was the right path for me. Only one semester into my program and I was intrigued. I begun to look at the world in a different perspective and grew appreciative of the things I had. I read about the struggle of others and how their stories are sometimes never told. I fell in love with Journalism.
Two-years-later and my passion continues to grow as I continue to learn the ins and outs of the Journalism biz. From collecting quotes to taking pictures I learned how to do it all and was inspired by my professors.
Pushing towards the future my goals for myself will be to become a versitile journalist. Documenting my own stories and freelancing stories to magazines are all in the crystal ball. My journey has just begun.
